Earlier in the year, we introduced the idea of Wisdom & Money as a Community Supported Ministry. As 2023 comes to a close, we want to put the spotlight on the community part of that vision. We are offering an end-of-year fundraising event that acknowledges the intimacy, sharing, and mutual transformation that occurs in spiritual community! To this end, we invite you to join us for a gathering where you will have an opportunity to share your response to the following questions:
How have the Wisdom & Money community and Spirit touched your money life this year?
Where have you given or received support as part of this community?
We will also make space for our Transformative Money practice of Financial Transparency, sharing where our organization is financially, and what we are inviting in regarding financial support this year. Wisdom & Money staff will field questions about our numbers and our fundraising invitation.
This year-end Gathering ‘Round the Hearth is part of Wisdom & Money’s Living In Gift practice, a gift-economy approach to fundraising, rooted in community, discernment and transparency.
Living In Gift
A central mystery at the heart of Wisdom & Money’s work is the sacred flow of giving and receiving. We recognize moments of sacred exchange where distinctions between giver and receiver collapse and all are brought together in the mystery of grace. One way that we embody this sacred reality is by operating this ministry as an experiment in gift economy; offering all of our programs as a gift. We embody this mystery also in our practice of fundraising, which is sourced in prayer, community and grace. We ask for gifts in a manner that is transparent, respectful and honest. We recognize discernment around giving as a place for spiritual transformation, and we honor one another’s clear yes’s and no’s. Recognizing that we are all donors and receivers, we invite one another to enter more deeply into the flow of gift. We hold the hope that the needs of our organization will be abundantly supplied through the generosity of our members.
We want to hear stories from all of you—our long-time and newer community members! All are warmly welcome.
