Wisdom & Money retreat circles are groups of 6-12 people committed to exploring their relationship to money as a doorway for spiritual transformation in community. The intention for these circles is transformation. We believe that engaging money topics in community is one way that Spirit can transform us as individuals, as a community, as well as participants in the economic systems in which we live. In these circles, we share the realities of our financial lives and our life stories. We welcome each person’s money questions with presence, curiosity, love, and playfulness.
Our Core Practices in Circle
These circles are a dance, where we both receive and give support for transformation. We find that the practice of coming together regularly and engaging with Wisdom & Money’s core practices changes us and our experience of money. Our core practices include:
- Wisdom practices, stemming from the Monastic Christian tradition: Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, Sacred Chant, Silence.
- The Be Present Empowerment ModelⓇ: a training in a way of being that takes people through three realms to support deep sharing and listening as each participant learns to discern their own wisdom.
- Transformative Money Practices, including Financial Transparency, Open & Honest Conversation about Money, Money Experiments

Boston Circle
Ongoing and established in 2005
W&M staff facilitator: Rose Feerick
Read more about the Boston Circle
The Boston Circle started in 2005 near Boston, MA and continues to gather with many of the original members still present, though almost none of the members continues to call Boston home–the name stuck!
The Boston Circle is where the Wisdom practices formally entered our community. These practices continue to shape and support us and have flowed to all programs of Wisdom & Money.
Long term, deep, committed relationships characterize the Boston Circle. It is a beautiful gift to walk with people over decades and we have seen the fruit of that journeying in this group. This Circle has taken on several money experiments together including funding a long term relationship with partners in Rwanda as well as an experimental writing project to share their stories.
This circle currently has 9 members and gathers 1-2 times per year on retreat as well as once per month online for spiritual practice.
Volcano Circle
Ongoing and established in 2014
W&M staff facilitator: Rose Feerick
Read more about the Volcano Circle
The Volcano Circle was launched in 2014 when four members of Harvest Time’s first retreat circle, The Beloved Community, decided to start a new circle. Over the years, we have added new members and said goodbye to others, but several of us have been in this circle for more than ten years and in this work together since the early 2000’s. In addition to 8 humans, our circle includes one hypoallergenic small dog.
Our practice is to gather twice a year for a four day weekend retreat often somewhere in Oregon or California. During our retreats, we engage in contemplative spiritual practices and we support each other in our growing edges related to how we engage with our financial resources so that our choices around money can be in alignment with our hearts and Spirit. Those of us in the circle come from a variety of faiths and spiritual beliefs. All of us feel fully welcomed and embraced for who we are and what we bring to the circle spiritually.

The ABC Circle started in 2022 gathering people from across the United States. This is Wisdom & Money’s newest circle. Our name, ABC, is an acronym for “Abundant Bolsa Comun” meaning Abundant Common Purse which is a reference to the story of Anointing of Jesus in John 12 and our recognition that we are a diverse circle. We seek to make money decisions that recognize that we are part of a global and even a cosmic common purse; our money inquiry is rooted in a desire to participate in a flow of money that serves the common good. We also recognize that returning to basics - the ABC’s - of our money and spiritual lives keeps us rooted in “beginner’s mind.” This circle is not place-based but gathers annually at the Episcopal House of Prayer in Minnesota as a central location.
The ABC Circle is a group of kindred spirits who have committed to walking together long term at the intersections of money and spirit. We were brought together by a shared desire to reflect on our financial and spiritual lives in ways that help us move through places of constriction, fear, or challenge so that we can experience more joy in our lives and with our money. On our retreats we engage in Christian contemplative practices and transformative money practices, meeting in retreat settings like the Episcopal House of Prayer, which is a sort of home base for us. We also practice the Be Present Empowerment Model as a powerful way to learn how to live from the part of ourselves that is outside of distress and to listen to others with openness and curiosity. We see this practice as a way to be honest with ourselves and each other and to deepen intimacy. We are a circle who deeply values our spiritual lives. We come from different Christian spiritual expressions and use different words to talk about the sacred, but all of us hold that relationship as a central part of our lives; in fact, that is what inspires us to seek to live in joy and service. We are not dogmatic, but rather open, curious and always learning. In this circle, we embrace joy and playfulness as readily as sorrow, anger, and lament. We welcome the full range of our experience as we learn to bring more of our heart and soul into our lives.
The ABC Circle is currently open to new members. If you are interested in joining, please contact Sawyer via our contact form here.
Estate Planning In Circle (EPIC)
Convenes for 18 months. Initially offered in 2025.
Read more about Estate Planning in Circle (EPIC)
Estate Planning In Circle is an 18-month journey designed to support participants to create estate plans that are aligned with the Spirit. In this program, we gather for retreat three times and meet monthly on zoom in between.
The purpose of this circle is to create a safe container wherein participants can reflect on our experience of receiving gifts from “across the veil” and attend to estate planning tasks with an open and discerning heart so that resources that move after our death flow in a spirit of love and blessing. During the course of the year, we will ponder the themes of Passion Week and Easter through a Wisdom lens and engage in home practice exercises designed to invite the Holy Spirit into the creation, revision and discernment of legal documents as well as other writing or reflections that we might want to create for family and friends.
Who: 8-10 people
When: Offered every other year. Next circle to start in 2028.
